Did You Say “Brush Your Face”?

In my mid twenties I began suffering from adult onset acne.  I hadn’t had many breakouts as a teenager so this was completely foreign to me and I wasn’t sure how to handle it.  I tried everything I could get my hands on to clear up my skin from the drugstores, department store beauty counters, and prescriptions, but to no avail.  The problem continued into my early thirties.  About two years ago, I began using the Mary Kay Timewise Skincare Line for Combination to Oily Skin and suddenly I started to see a difference.  My acne started to subside and the number of blackheads dramatically diminished.  As time went on, I learned that I needed to use the Mary Kay Velocity Cleanser and Moisturizer in the summer because my skin tended to be a lot more oily in the heat.  I also started using the Mary Kay Timewise Microdermabrasion Set.

Immediately after beginning to use the Mary Kay products, I began receiving compliments on my complexion, and started feeling more confident about the condition of my skin.  But only I knew what my face still looked like underneath my makeup, and it was not something I was proud of.  I still had a lot of blotchiness, enlarged pores, and too many blackheads.

I recently began using a facial brush to apply my cleanser, mine came from Sally Beauty Supply for only a couple of dollars.  I put a dab of cleanser on the brush, and use a light, circular motion to scrub my face.  It helps my cleanser to penetrate the skin more deeply and get into my pores breaking up the oils and dead skin that are cause blackheads and acne.  The brush helps to exfoliate dry, dead skin off the surface of my face, my pores are shrinking, and the texture and color of my skin had begun to even out.  If you haven’t ever tried a facial brush, I highly recommend giving it a try.  If you’re interested in trying any of the Mary Kay products I mentioned, please contact me at salonjuleen@gmail.com

  1. Great advice, Juleen! I feel like my “almost 40” hormones are making my skin crazier than it has ever been. I can’t wait to try this! 🙂
